Stetson Defeats Clemson 1-0

Sept. 16, 2008

Final Stats

CLEMSON, SC – Kevin Munz scored the game’s only goal in leading Stetson to a 1-0 victory over Clemson in a men’s intercollegiate soccer match at Clemson, SC Tuesday night.

With the win, Stetson improves to 3-2 on the year, while Clemson falls to 1-4-1 this season.

Stetson scored at the 53:27 mark as Eugene Starikov passed the ball to Munz from the middle. Munz fired an eight-yard shot into the netting for his second goal of the season.

Clemson will play host to ACC foe Virginia Tech on Sunday, September 21, in the Tigers’ next action.

“We cannot score goals,” said Clemson Head Coach Trevor Adair. “We played well and we created chances, but we cannot put our chances away. That really killed us tonight. We don’t have anyone to put the ball in the nets. We moved people around tonight and had our chances to win. This is so frustrating. You address this and work on this problem over and over, but the fact remains we cannot put our chances away. Right now the only thing we can do is to keep working. We outplayed them in every phase of the game, but if you can’t score, you can’t win.”
