Duke Defeats Clemson 2-1 In Double Overtime

DURHAM, NC. – Senior midfielder, Trevor Perea scored with 8:03 left in the second overtime to give Duke a 2-1 victory over second-ranked Clemson in a men’s Atlantic Coast Conference soccer match at Koskinen Stadium at Durham, NC Saturday night.

With the win, Duke improves to 2-1-1 overall, 1-0 in the ACC. Clemson is now 2-1-1 this season and 0-1 in league play.

Perea hit a 35-yard free kick for the game-winning goal. It was his first goal of the season.

Duke got on the board first as senior Donald McIntosh hit a 25-yard shot at the 41:37 mark.

The Tigers evened the score at the 70:51 point. Kenneth Cutler scored his second goal of the season off a free kick by Paul Souders and a pass from Ricky Lewis. It was Cutler’s second goal of the season.

Clemson will play host to Gardner-Webb on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the Tigers’ next action.
