Dane Richards Drafted in MLS Draft by New York Red Bulls

CLEMSON, SC–Clemson men’s soccer player, Dane Richards was drafted by the New York Red Bulls in the Major League Soccer Draft conducted Friday afternoon in Indianapolis, IN.

Richards was named a second-team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) organization.

Under Clemson Head Coach Trevor Adair, 22 players have been selected in the MLS draft. He has also coached five first round draft choices.

Richards led the team in scoring with 11 goals and nine assists for 31 points in 2006. He was also named first-team All-ACC.

Clemson finished the season with a 13-5-2 record on the year. The Tigers advanced to the NCAA Final 16. The Tigers were ranked ninth in the Final Soccer America poll.

News
