GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson’s Dane Richards was named Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week after leading the Tigers to a pair of wins including an upset road victory at Duke on Saturday.
Clemson began the week downing Furman 2-1 at home. With the score tied at one apiece late in the second half, Richards notched the game-winner in the 79th minute on his only shot of the game.
In the regular season finale against Duke, Clemson topped the Blue Devils 3-1 in Durham to earn the seventh seed heading into the men’s soccer championship this week. Richards tallied his second game-winning goal in as many games and currently leads the team with seven. Less than three minutes into the second half, the junior forward gave the Tigers a two-goal advantage and the eventual win.
Richards and the Tigers are back in action this week as they will face Virginia in the quarterfinals of the ACC Men’s Soccer Championship on Wednesday, November 9 at 8:00 pm at SAS Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
