Clemson To Play Host To UNC-Greensboro Sunday Afternoon

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s soccer team will play its first home match of the season Sunday afternoon as the Tigers entertain UNC-Greensboro at 2:00 p.m. at Riggs Field.

Clemson Head Coach Trevor Adair will be playing against his former college coach Michael Parker. Parker coached Adair at Lock Haven State. Adair graduated from Lock Haven State in 1982. During Adair’s career, Lock Haven State won two National Championships in 1978 and 1981, his freshman and junior seasons. Parker is entering his 19th season with UNC-Greensboro and he has compiled a 280-102-11 mark in his previous 18 years.

This season, the Tigers are 1-0-1 after defeating Butler 3-0 and tying number-one ranked Indiana in the Indiana Classic last weekend. The Tigers also claimed the championship at this tournament.

UNC-Greensboro will enter the match with a 1-0 mark on the year. The Spartans defeated Mercer 3-0 in Greensboro, NC on August 31.

This will be the sixth meeting between Clemson and UNC-Greensboro on the soccer field. Clemson leads the overall series 4-1. The last meeting in the series was in 1993.
