Clemson Men’s Soccer Unveils 2020 Spring Schedule

Clemson, S.C. – The Clemson men’s soccer team unveiled its schedule of spring matches earlier today, with the first four contests set to be played against ACC opponents. The team returns to the field after ending its fall season ranked No. 5 in the nation, having been crowned ACC regular season champions and making appearances in the ACC Championship match and the NCAA Round of Eight.

Clemson’s opening three games come against similar opponents from the side’s 2019 fall campaign. Against the three opponents, the Tigers went 2-1 and outscored their opponents by an 8-4 margin.

The team’s match against Wake Forest on March 7 will serve as the opening match in a double-header at Historic Riggs Field, as the Clemson women’s team will host Kennesaw State at 2 p.m.

The final game of the spring season, set to be held on the campus of Wake Forest University, will take place on April 19 at a time yet to be determined. The match details will be announced following Clemson’s match against North Carolina on April 4.

When Clemson takes to the field this spring, the side will return eight of its 11 starters from the past season. Tanner Dieterich, Malick Mbaye and Robbie Robinson are the three starters who have departed after being drafted in the opening two rounds of the 2020 MLS SuperDraft.

Callum Johnson, a mid-year grad transfer from Boston College, has joined the team ahead of its spring season. Johnson will look to slot into the midfield for Head Coach Mike Noonan’s squad in the upcoming campaign.
