Clemson Men’s Soccer Falls to VCU 2-0 at VCU Invitational

Richmond, Va — Virginia Commonwealth scored two goals in the final two minutes of the first half as it defeated Clemson 2-0 on the final day of the VCU Nike/ALLTEL Classic.

VCU’s offensive Flurry began at the 43:45 mark as Mike Aust netted a goal off a Matt Pauls assist. just over one minute later, Pauls helped VCU increase its lead as his corner kick was headed into the goal by hugh MacDonald with just three seconds remaining in the half.

Clemson tried to mount a second half comeback as it put together five corner kicks and three shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net.

The Tigers placed three players on the All-Tournament Team as junior Charlie Roberts and sophomores Justin Moore and Bradley Gibson were each honored for their play this weekend.

With the loss. Clemson falls to 1-1 on the season. The Tigers return to action on Friday when they play 11th-ranked Saint Louis at the Furman Invitational at 5:00 p.m.
