CLEMSON, SC — Clemson defeated Gardner-Webb 3-1 in a men’s intercollegiate soccer match at Clemson, SC Sunday night.

With the win, 12th-ranked Clemson is now 1-1 on the year, while the Bulldogs fall to 0-1-1 this season.

Clemson scored at the 13:47 mark in the match as freshman Tommy Drake scored with assists by David Newton and Greg Eckhardt.

Michael Brooks gave the Tigers a 2-0 advantage in the 41st minute with assists by David Bell and Havird Usry.

Logan Swaim scored a goal for Gardner-Webb in the 44th minute and was assisted on the play by Guy Mbamyamsig and Julian Morris.

The Tigers scored the insurance goal at the 71:48 point in the match. Nathan Thornton scored on a 33-yard shot for his first goal of the season.
