Clemson Compliance Corner - All-Sports Recruiting Dead Period - Prohibition on Contact & Recruiting Visits

On Wednesday, February 17, 2021, the NCAA Division I Council extended the all-sports temporary COVID-19 recruiting dead period through Monday, May 31, 2021. During a dead period, NCAA rules prohibit in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on or off a Division I campus. Also, official and unofficial visits by prospective student-athletes to a DI campus are prohibited during this time. Please note the other specific NCAA prohibitions while the dead period is in effect:

• It is impermissible for Clemson Athletics Department staff members to send itineraries (e.g., campus tours, instructions on accessing athletics facilities) to prospective student-athletes, their family members, or their friends for visits to campus.
• Clemson institutional staff members and prospective student-athletes may not engage in virtual communication (e.g., phone call, video call) if prospective-student-athletes are on-campus.
• Clemson coaches may not conduct virtual campus tours with prospective student-athletes who are on-campus even if no in-person contact occurs between the prospective student-athletes and Clemson coaches.
