Alumni in the Pros: November 2

Alumni of the Clemson men’s soccer program put together a series of well-rounded performances across the landscape of professional soccer last week!

MLS Recap

Tommy McNamara earned a start in the New England Revolution’s midfield during his side’s midweek match against the NY Red Bulls. McNamara logged 90 minutes and recorded one shot during the match. Over the weekend, McNamara was a part of a thrilling match against D.C. United, recording three shots in his side’s 4-3 victory.

Amadou Dia earned the start along Sporting KC’s backline as an outside back and helped his side to a 1-0 victory over FC Cincinnati. This was Dia’s 12th appearance and the ninth start of the season with Sporting KC. Dia and his teammates participated in the Halloween festivities by dressing up in their costumes while arriving at the team’s grounds!

Joe Bendik made his first appearance with the Philadelphia Union by entering in the 89th minute in his team’s 2-1 victory over Chicago Fire FC. After earning his first appearance, Bendik made his first start in the Union’s next match against Andrew Tarbell and the Columbus Crew. Tarbell was on the bench for both of the Crew’s matches this past week.

Robbie Robinson was on the bench for Inter Miami FC’s match against Toronto FC on Sunday.

USL Championship

Kyle Murphy and the Tampa Bay Rowdies saw their season come to an end last week, finishing the 2020 campaign as the USL Championship Eastern Conference Champions. The Rowdies won the Eastern Conference Championship last week and were slated to play Phoenix Rising FC in the USL Championship Final, however, the match was canceled due to health concerns surrounding COVID-19.

USL League One 

Paul Clowes and Greenville Triumph SC were named USL League One Title-Winners after the league ended the season ahead of its final match between Greenville Triumph SC and Union Omaha following COVID-19 health concerns. Triumph SC won the title after the league used its clause to award the championship to the team with the most points per game during the regular season. Triumph SC earned 2.1875 points per game through the regular season.

International 

Iman Mafi earned a start in FK Jerv’s midweek match against Sogndal, playing the first 76 minutes in the contest.

Oliver Shannon played 90 minutes for Bala Town FC in their match against Haverfordwest County, helping his side to a 1-1 draw.
