Alumni in the Pros: August 3

Alumni of the Clemson men’s soccer program contributed to another thrilling week of matches across the world!

MLS Recap

Andrew Tarbell earned his second-consecutive start for the Columbus Crew as his side faced Minnesota United. Tarbell recorded three saves in the match.

Amadou Dia and Joe Bendik squared off against one another in the Quarterfinals of the MLS is Back Tournament, with the Philadelphia Union winning the match against Sporting KC, 3-1. Dia logged 45 minutes of action, entering the match at the start of the second half, while Bendik was named a member of the Union’s squad.

USL Championship

Phanuel Kavita was given the captain’s armband for Saint Louis FC’s match against Memphis 901 FC. Kavita logged a full 90 minutes on the field, with Memphis winning via a 1-0 result.

Jack Metcalf earned the start along the San Diego Loyal’s backline, with his side battling Sacramento Republic FC to a 0-0 draw. Metcalf put one shot on goal and contributed four clearances to his side’s effort, earning Man of the Match honors!

Kyle Murphy came on in the 86th minute for the Tampa Bay Rowdies in his side’s match against the Charleston Battery. The Rowdies were victorious via a 2-0 result. Murphy logged one shot during his time on the field.

Cody Mizell earned the start in goal for his New Mexico United side, posting a shutout over the OKC Energy as his side was victorious, winning by a score of 3-0. Mizell made four saves throughout the match. Earlier in the week, Mizell was honored by the league for making the Save of the Week.

Malick Mbaye was named to North Carolina FC’s squad list for his team’s match against Birmingham Legion FC. North Carolina FC was victorious via a 1-0 result.

USL League One

Paul Clowes was a member of the Greenville Triumph’s squad which took on Forward Madison FC. The two sides played to a 0-0 draw.

International 

Diego Campos and Iman Mafi both earned starts for FK Jerv in their match against Sjordals-Blink. Their side came back from 0-2 to end the match in a 2-2 draw.
