Clemson, S.C. – Clemson men’s soccer’s Joran Gerbet, Ousmane Sylla, and Alex Meinhard have all been named to United Soccer Coaches Players to Watch list, it was announced by the organization earlier this month.
Meinhard and Sylla were each named to the USC Forwards to Watch List on Tuesday. Sylla, a 2022 All-ACC selection, returns as the leading scorer from last year’s team, netting five goals and recording a team-high seven assists (17 points). The senior from Dakar, Senegal was also named to the ACC’s Preseason Players to Watch List on Tuesday.
Meinhard, a transfer from Tulsa, was twice named the AAC Offensive Player of the Year before joining the Tigers prior to the 2023 season. The Tartu, Estonia native scored 29 career goals for the Hurricanes with eight assists.
Gerbet, a transfer from Oregon State, was named to the USC Midfielders to Watch List last week. The Valence, France native was the 2022 PAC 12 Player of the Year, as well as the 2021 PAC 12 Freshman of the Year. In two years with the Beavers, Gerbet started 36 games with two goals and three assists.
Clemson men’s soccer opens the 2023 season as the ACC favorite, picked as both the Atlantic Division champion and overall champion. The Tigers open the season on September 24, playing host to UCF at Historic Riggs Field in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
