North Carolina Upends Men’s Soccer, 2-1

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Ryan Kneipper and Michael Bucy both scored goals late in the second half in leading North Carolina to a 2-1 win over Clemson in an Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer match at Chapel Hill, NC Saturday night.

North Carolina is 3-1 overall, while Clemson falls to 1-3 this season. This was the first ACC match of the year for both teams.

Alan Woods put Clemson up 1-0 at the 40:52 mark with assists by Ross Goodacre and Fabio Tambosi.

North Carolina tied the score at the 70:51 point into the game as Kneipper scored with an assist by Eddie Robinson.

Bucy scored the game winner 8:01 later as Matt Laycock threw the ball in play and Joey DiSalvo flicked the ball to Bucy who headed the ball in from close range.

This was the first time since 1991 that North Carolina has defeated Clemson in men’s soccer. During that time, Clemson won seven games and tied two vs. the Tar Heels.
