CLEMSON, SC–The Clemson men’s soccer team are ranked in the nation’s top 25 according to the NSCAA and Soccer America polls released Tuesday.
In the final Soccer America poll, the Tigers are ranked 12th. This is the highest that Clemson has been ranked in the final pool since the 2001 season, when the Tigers finished fourth. Clemson has been ranked in the final Soccer America Poll 18 times since 1980, the first year of the Soccer America poll. Of the 18 years Clemson has been ranked in the final Soccer America poll, Clemson has been in the top 12, 11 years.
In the NSCAA poll this week, the Tigers are ranked 15th this week. The NSCAA will put out another poll after the National Championship match.
Clemson was chosen to participate in the 2005 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship as announced by the NCAA Men’s Soccer Committee Monday afternoon.
Clemson will play host to Coastal Carolina at Historic Riggs Field on Friday (November 18) at 5:00 p.m. in the first round. The winner of this match will play at 14th-seeded N.C. State on Tuesday, November 22 in Raleigh, NC.
Clemson has an 11-5-3 record overall and has a 6-2-1 record in the last nine matches, including wins over fifth-ranked Duke and eighth-ranked Virginia. Clemson advanced to the semifinals of the ACC Tournament this past weekend.
