Volleyball Welcomes Ari Smith as Assistant Coach

CLEMSON, S.C. – Head volleyball coach Jolene Jordan Hoover announced the addition of Ari Smith to the program as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator on Friday. Smith joins the Tigers after spending 2013 at Wofford, where she served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, working primarily with the defensive specialists.  “We are very excited that Ari is joining our staff, Ari has a great personality and work ethic and she will fit in well with our team,” said Hoover. “Ari will handle the recruiting responsibilities as well as opponent scouting for us. She is also very familiar with the club programs in the region that will help us in recruiting.” This past season, Smith’s Terrier club advanced to the SoCon Tournament for the first time in seven seasons. Smith not only served as an assistant, but also was the recruiting coordinator, travel coordinator and film specialist. She was a graduate assistant at North Alabama in 2011 and 2012, where she worked with the outside hitters and earned her Master’s degree in Criminal Justice. Smith also played two seasons at UNA, earning a degree in communications and claiming an All-Gulf South Conference nod as a senior. UNA went to the NCAA D-II tournament in both of her seasons with the program. Smith also has extensive experience working with club teams in the upstate.
