The Watt Family Performance and Wellness Center is near completion.
CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson Athletics and IPTAY will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, April 4 to mark the upcoming completion of the 55,000-square-foot Watt Family Athletic Performance and Wellness Center, a state-of-the-art facility which will be the new home for the training and well-being of Clemson’s student-athletes. Departments will begin moving into the facility in the coming weeks, with a full, phased implementation expected to be completed over the summer.
The Watt Family Athletic Performance and Wellness Center features an advanced strength and conditioning center, wellness and recovery space, sports medicine clinic, and nutrition center, ensuring that student-athletes receive top-tier medical, performance and recovery care. The facility also boasts hydrotherapy pools, a Gatorade Fuel Bar, and sustainable design elements such as circadian lighting and UV sterilization. These amenities reflect Clemson’s commitment to providing holistic support for student-athletes, promoting both physical and mental well-being. Originally breaking ground in December 2023, the facility is on track to be fully operational by mid-summer of 2025.
The transformational project was made possible by an initial $5.675 million contribution from the Watt family, whose continued support of Clemson Athletics and Clemson University has helped shape the future of performance and innovation. Clemson also recently opened the 10,000-square-foot lakeside Athlete Recovery Center in March 2024 and the Brook T. Smith Clemson Applied Science Lab and 100 Yards of Wellness at the Reeves Football Operations Complex, which gives Clemson some of the most advanced facilities for recovery and wellness in the nation.
