CLEMSON, S.C. – For the second-consecutive year, the Clemson Volleyball program has landed a program record number of student-athletes on the All-ACC Academic Team with its latest selection of 10 on the 2024 squad, the conference office announced Thursday. The Tigers’ 10 selections surpass the program’s previous mark of eight set in 2023 and was led by three-year honorees Azyah Dailey and Devan Taylor and second-year selection McKenna Gildon. The additional seven honorees, Audrey Armbruster, Kate Hansen, Neea-Maria Joki, Claire Luoma, Mia McGrath, Katherine Sandt and Indigo Young, made their All-ACC Academic Team debuts.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent are also considered in selecting the team.
Dailey (Port Charlotte, Fla.) finished her collegiate career while working towards her master’s in athletic leadership. Appearing in 30 games with 21 starts, she cracked the Clemson record book with 30 kills at Georgia Tech to tie for ninth in a single match and become only the third Tiger since 2019 to hit 30+ kills in a match. She also finished with five solo blocks against Syracuse to tie for 10th in a single match.
Taylor (Spring, Texas) also rounded out her Clemson career while working towards a master’s in biomedical engineering. The four-year starting libero concluded her career with 1,754 digs to sit second all-time at Clemson and maintained 3.85 digs per set to sit third all-time. She tallied double-digit digs in 27 matches last season, including a career-high 34 against Wofford to tie for eighth most in a single match for the Tigers.
Gildon (Plano, Texas) is a pre-business major that appeared in 24 matches last season. She finished with a season-high 10 digs in three matches, including back-to-back matches against Wake Forest and NC State. The sophomore also notched three aces against Wofford and Furman to help finish with 14 on the year.
Armbruster (Accounting), Hansen (Sociology), Joki (Pre-Business), Luoma (Pre-Business), McGrath (Sport Communication), Sandt (Accounting) and Young (Athletic Leadership – MS) move the list to 35 Tigers that have garnered 58 selections since the award began in 2005. Hansen, Sandt and Young were also named as College Sports Communicator Academic All-District selections in December.
