Clemson Picked Third in ACC Atlantic Division

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s soccer team was picked to finish third in the Atlantic Division in the ACC Men’s Soccer preseason poll released earlier today, as voted on by the league’s 12 head coaches. Clemson also received one first place vote within its division.

Conference newcomer Louisville was picked to win the Atlantic Division. Wake Forest was picked second and Clemson came in third, based on the amount of points accumulated through vote tallying. NC State, Boston College and Syracuse rounded out the Atlantic Division.

On the other side, defending national champion Notre Dame was voted to win not only the Coastal Division, but the conference as a whole. The Irish received six first place votes. Virginia, North Carolina, Duke, Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh round out that division.

The Tigers face a challenging slate of opponents this fall, including the other five teams in the Atlantic Division, as well as North Carolina, Pittsburgh and Virginia. In total, Clemson will face three of the top four vote-earners, according to this poll.

Clemson hits the road this weekend for its second and final exhibition contest. The Tigers face UNC Asheville at 6 p.m. on Saturday. They kick off the regular season on Friday, Aug. 29 against Radford at 7 p.m. at Historic Riggs Field.
