Clemson Men’s Soccer Leads the Nation with Four First-Round Picks in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson men’s soccer made program history with four Tigers drafted in the first round, more than any other college program in the first round this year. The Tigers added to its MLS SuperDraft history on Thursday, with four Clemson United members, Kwaku Agyabeng, Lukas Magnason, Wahabu Musah, and Ransford Gyan being selected during the 2026 MLS SuperDraft on Thursday afternoon. This year’s draft marks the 13th-straight SuperDraft in which Clemson has had at least one player drafted, and the seventh-consecutive year that saw at least three Tigers drafted to the MLS.

During Head Coach Mike Noonan’s 16 years at the helm of the Clemson United program, the Tigers have had 37 players selected during the annual MLS SuperDraft, with 26 of those players being drafted in the last seven seasons.

Midfielder Agyabeng was the first Tiger off the board, chosen by Sporting Kansas City with the 4th overall pick in the first round to become the sixth top-five MLS SuperDraft pick in program history for the Clemson United. The Kumasi, Ghana, native was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team, Third Team All-ACC, TopDrawerSoccer Freshman Top 100-No. 6 and ACC Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 21).

Magnason was the second Tiger taken by Real Salt Lake as the 13th pick in the first round. The sophomore started 12 of 17 games for the Tigers this season, with a pair of goals netted, including the game-winning goal vs Elon (10/04) in the final seconds.

Musah was the third Tiger taken by the Colorado Rapids as the 26th pick in the first round. The sophomore started tied his career-high six goals during the 2025 season while starting 13 of 17 games for the Tigers this season. Musah was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Second Team and Second Team All-ACC earlier this season.

Gyan was the final Tiger to be selected on Thursday, being chosen as the 27th pick in the first round by New York City FC. The sophomore from Sunyani, Ghana was named a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist after tying for first on the team in with career-high goals (8) and assists (8). Earlier this season Gyan was named First Team All-South Region by United Soccer Coaches, First Team All-American, which is the highest of honors, ACC Midfielder of the Year and No. 3 Player on TopDrawerSoccer’s Midseason Watchlist. Gyan was also named ACC Offensive Player of the Week Sept. 2 and Sept. 9 after netting his first career pair of braces vs UAB (8/29) and then No.10 Pitt (9/5).
