Alumni in the Pros: October 12

Clemson men’s soccer was well represented across the landscape of professional soccer with another excellent showing this past week.

MLS Recap

Amadou Dia earned a start with Sporting KC and helped his side to a 1-0 shutout victory over Chicago Fire FC during the team’s midweek match. Dia made an impact on the offensive side of the ball, contributing one shot. During Sporting KC’s weekend match, Amadou Dia contributed one assist in 81 minutes of action as his side was victorious over Nashville SC by a final score of 2-1.

Tommy McNamara played a full 90 minutes in the midfield for the New England Revolution as his side fell to Toronto FC, 1-0, during a midweek match. McNamara logged one shot during his time on the field. Over the weekend, McNamara logged one shot during 59 minutes of action as his side went on to win 2-1 over NYCFC.

Robbie Robinson entered into both of Inter Miami FC’s matches this past week in the 89th minute, replacing Matias Pellegrini who started in the midfield during the midweek match, and Gonzalo Higuain who played as a forward during Saturday’s match.

Joe Bendik was a member of the Philadelphia Union’s bench for both of his side’s matches this past week. The Union won their two matches by a combined score of 5-1.

Andrew Tarbell earned the start in net for the Columbus Crew and played a full 90 minutes in his side’s match against Montreal.

USL Championship

Phanuel Kavita earned the start and the captain’s armband for Saint Louis FC in his side’s 1-0 victory over Hartford Athletic. The victory gave Saint Louis FC its first playoff victory and has now set up a match against Louisville FC. Kavita contributed two tackles and four clearances in the match.

Kyle Murphy was on the bench for the Tampa Bay Rowdies’ 4-2 victory over Birmingham Legion FC. The Rowdies will now face the Charleston Battery in the second round of the USL Championship Playoffs.

New Mexico United earned a 1-0 shutout over San Antonio FC thanks to Cody Mizell playing a full 90 minutes in net. Mizell registered three saves and allowed his side to advance into the second round of the USL Championship Playoffs where they will face El Paso Locomotive FC.

Patrick Bunk-Andersen earned an appearance with Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC by entering the team’s playoff match against Louisville City FC in the 63rd minute.

USL League One 

Tanner Dieterich was a member of the Chattanooga Red Wolves midfield in the team’s match against North Texas SC. Dieterich logged one tackle and completed 85% of his passes.

Paul Clowes earned the start in the Greenville Triumph’s midfield before coming off in the 45th minute. Clowes recorded one shot, one clearance, and completed 90% of his passes.

International 

Aaron Jones earned the start in King’s Lynn Town’s match against Solihull Moors.

Iman Mafi earned the start for FK Jerv in both of his side’s matches this past week, as Jerv walked away from the pair of matches with six points. Mafi played in the opening 46 minutes of his side’s weekend match.

Oliver Shannon earned the start for Bala Town as they earned a 5-2 victory over Aberystwyth.
