Clemson Athletics Black History: Dee Arrington

Dee Arrington was an All-American on the Clemson women’s soccer team in 2000 and 2002, the first two-time All-American in program history.   The forward set career records for goals with 50 and points with 127 over her four years when she led the program to four NCAA Tournament appearances.

In 2000, Arrington scored the winning goal in Clemson’s 2-1 win over defending National Champion and #1 ranked North Carolina.   That year Clemson won the ACC Regular season championship and finished a program best fifth in the nation.  Arrington was the unquestioned leader of that team.

In 2002, she was named the ACC Player of the Year and was a first-round draft choice professionally.  The daughter of Clemson national champion football player Vandell Arrington, Dee was inducted into the Clemson Ring of Honor in 2019, the first women’s soccer player to be inducted.
