Women’s Tennis Defeats Georgia Tech, 5-4

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Women’s Tennis team defeated Georgia Tech in Clemson Saturday afternoon, to earn their second ACC victory. Clemson’s season record is now 6-14, 2-6 in the ACC.

Clemson freshman Carmina Giraldo defeated Sabrina Pardo of Georgia Tech at number one singles by a score of 6-1, 6-2. In the two spot, senior Kate-Maree Mair of Clemson handed Mason Miller of the Yellow Jackets a loss, 6-1, 6-4. Junior Tiger Catherine Galvin won by default over Bobbi Guthrie at three singles. Clemson’s Cecilia Hincapie fell to her GT opponent Xenia Uy, 6-2, 6-3. Clemson’s Christina Oldock was downed by Tamarra Jenkin, 6-2, 6-3 at five singles. In the six slot, Tiger Meredith Chandler was defeated by Autumn Richards of GT, by a score of 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles action, the Tiger’s freshman-senior duo of Carmina Giraldo and Kate-Maree Mair were successful over Pardo and Miller, 9-7. Clemson’s Hincapie and Clausen fell to the Tech duo of Jenkin and Guthrie at two doubles by a score of 8-6. Meredith Chandler and Catherine Galvin teamed up for the Tigers to defeat Richards and Sybi Parker of the Yellow Jackets, 8-4.

Clemson (6-14, 2-6 ACC) will travel to the ACC Championship Tournament in Atlanta, GA on April 22-24.
