CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s soccer team will conclude its six game homestand this weekend as it plays host to ACC newcomer Pittsburgh on Thursday, September 19 at 7 PM and Alabama A&M on Sunday, September 22 at 1 PM at Historic Riggs Field.

Sunday’s game against the Bulldogs, which will be the Tigers’ final nonconference match of the 2013 season, will be broadcast live on TigerCast via ClemsonTigers.com.  In addition, in-game updates and statistical information for both games can be found by following Clemson women’s soccer on Twitter, @clemsonwsoccer.

Clemson won its first ACC game of the season last Sunday in a 2-1 victory over Boston College at Historic Riggs Field.  Senior Vanessa Laxgang and sophomore Jenna Polonsky scored for the Tigers, who improved to 3-2-2 (1-1 ACC) on the season.  Freshman keeper Kailen Sheridan was solid again in goal against the Eagles, as she posted four saves in the victory.  Sheridan now has 21 saves and has given up six goals in the Tigers’ first seven games.  Freshman Catrina Atanda leads the team in scoring with four goals for eight points on the season.

Pittsburgh, in its first season in the ACC, has a 4-3-1 record overall and a 0-2 mark in conference play.  The Panthers lost 3-0 to Boston College and 1-0 to NC State last week in Pittsburgh.  The team is led in scoring by sophomore forward Roosa Arvas who has two goals and two assists on the season.  Junior keeper Nicole D’Agostino has posted 30 saves and allowed seven goals through Pittsburgh’s first eight games.

Thursday’s meeting will be the first ever matchup between the two schools in women’s soccer.

Alabama A&M is 0-8 on the season, and is coming off an 11-0 loss to the University of South Alabama.  The Bulldogs will travel to Middle Tennessee State on Friday before travelling to Clemson on Sunday.  The meeting between the Tigers and Bulldogs will also be the first in the series history.
