CLEMSON, S.C. — The spring rowing season begins this weekend for Clemson. The Tigers travel to Oak Ridge, Tenn., to compete in the sixth annual Cardinal Invitational. Clemson will field two entries in the varsity eights, and three in the varsity fours.
The action will feature three sessions on Melton Lake, two on Saturday and one Sunday morning. Clemson faces Kansas, Louisville and Michigan in the opening session Saturday morning, which begins shortly after 10 a.m. with the First Varsity 8+. The Tigers turn around in the afternoon to race against Michigan State, Minnesota and West Virginia. The final session will feature Clemson against Kansas, Miami and Minnesota.
Stephen Frazier Wong returns for his third season at the helm of the Tiger rowing program, and welcomes two new assistant coaches for year three in Mandy Merritt and Amanda Polk.
“We are starting off our racing season against great competition,” Frazier Wong said. “It’s exciting to see so many strong teams at the beginning of our journey, and our team has been practicing with extra intensity this week. We’re focused and ready to take to the water tomorrow.”
