Tiger Women’s Soccer Team Falls to Miami on the Road Friday Night

CORAL GABLES, FL – The Clemson women’s soccer team fell to Miami by a score of 2-0 on Friday night at Cobb Stadium in Coral Gables, FL. The loss drops the Tigers’ record to 3-10 (0-5 ACC), while the Hurricanes improve to 7-6 (2-2 ACC) with the win.

Miami’s first goal was scored by Brittney Steinbruch in the 16th minute of play. Beverly Goebel put the game’s second goal on the board less than two minutes into the second half to give the Hurricanes the 2-0 lead.

For the game, the Tigers took 12 shots to the Hurricanes’ 13 and Clemson had four corner kicks to Miami’s three. Junior Paula Pritzen recorded four saves in goal for the Tigers, while Vicki Alonzo posted four saves for Miami.

“The girls are fighting for one another,” said Head Coach Hershey Strosberg, “and we played well at times. We are simply not capitalizing on the chances we do create, but I’m proud of their effort tonight.”

The Tigers will return to Clemson for four consecutive ACC home games, beginning with a Thursday, October 15 contest against Florida State. The Tigers will face the Seminoles at 7:00 PM at Historic Riggs Field.
