Clemson, SC – The Tiger rowing team will split up this weekend, with the first and second varsity 8+ crews headed to Ann Arbor, MI and the third varsity 8+, varsity 4+, and novice 8+ crews in competition at the CURA Sprints. Clemson is coming off a week in which it won five of six races from Indiana, Marist, & Purdue.
The first and second varsity 8+ crews will face Michigan, Michigan State, and Notre Dame in a pair of races on Saturday at 12:00 PM. The second varsity 8+ is scheduled for noon, while the first varsity 8+ race is set for 12:15. The racing action will take place on Belleville Lake. It will be the first event of the spring season for the host Wolverines. All three foes the Tigers will face were ranked in the preseason US Rowing/CRCA poll, while Clemson was in the others receiving votes category.
The Clemson Sprints, hosted by the Clemson University Rowing Association, will take place Saturday on Lake Hartwell. The Tigers’ varsity 4+ will be in competition at 8:30 AM versus a number of club teams from the area. The novice 8+ will race in the first of two heats at 9:20 AM, with the top three from each heat advancing to the afternoon final. Clemson’s novice 8+ will also compete in the collegiate 8+ competition with the Tigers’ third varsity 8+ and others. Those two heats will be at 1:00 and 1:10, respectively, with a final at 2:10 PM.
