Tiger Rowing Concludes Day One at George Washington Invitational

Washington, DC – The Clemson rowing team competed at the George Washington Invitational on Friday and won all four races it was entered, despite windy and chilly conditions. The Tigers claimed victories in the varsity 8+, second varsity 8+, novice 8+, and varsity 4+ behind strong tailwinds. Clemson will conclude its activity at the regatta, which is held at the Potomac River, on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers’ varsity 8+ took care of Delaware on Friday, winning with a time of 6:17.9. The Blue Hens finished the course with a time of 6:37.6. In the second varsity 8+, Clemson also finished ahead of Delaware. That crew had a time of 6:26.8.

The novice 8+ also raced Delaware and had the same result, finishing first with a time of 6:48.8. The Blue Hens crossed the finish line in 7:01.6. In the varsity 4+, Clemson placed first overall in a race against Navy’s B team and St. Joseph’s. The Tigers had a time of 7:14.9, while the Midshipmen were at 7:30.4 and the Hawks had a time of 7:37.7.

Clemson will compete with Georgetown, George Washington, Iowa, and Navy in the four events held Saturday.
