Nickelbacks Coach

• Returned to his alma mater in January 2026 as Clemson’s nickelbacks coach.

• Enters his fourth year on staff at Clemson overall, including his three-season stint in various graduate assistant roles from 2013-15.

• Joined Clemson from Delaware, where he served three seasons as the Blue Hens’ cornerbacks coach and defensive pass game coordinator from 2023-25.

• In his final season at Delaware, helped the Blue Hens transition from FCS to FBS, guiding the team’s cornerbacks as the program produced a winning season capped by a 68 Ventures Bowl victory in its first year at the FBS level.

• Mentored two Delaware players to three All-Conference USA selections: two by Tyron Herring and one by Nate Evans. Herring went on to spend the 2025 NFL season with the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots.

• Also mentored Delaware cornerback Jamarion Kolagbodi to Conference USA All-Freshman honors in 2025.

• Spent the 2019-22 seasons at Furman, first leading the team’s safeties in 2019 before overseeing the entire secondary from 2020-22. Also oversaw the Paladins’ kickoff coverage unit in those four seasons.

• Produced nine All-Southern Conference defensive backs while helping Furman earn two FCS playoff berths, highlighted by a quarterfinals appearance to end the 2022 season.

• Coached cornerback Micah Robinson for four years at Furman prior to Robinson’s selection as a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after one season at Tulane.

• Spent one year coaching cornerbacks at James Madison in 2018 under head coach Mike Houston.

• In his lone season with the Dukes, he coached consensus All-America cornerback Jimmy Moreland, who returned three of his five interceptions for touchdowns and finished sixth in balloting for the 2018 Buck Buchanan Award, given annually to the top defender in the FCS. Moreland would go on to be selected in the 2019 NFL Draft.

• Coached two seasons at Murray State, where he coached cornerbacks and also assisted with special teams.

• During his time with the Racers from 2016-17, guided D’Montre Wade to a pair of All-Ohio Valley Conference honors as well as second team All-America accolades in 2017. The All-America nod came after Wade led the OVC with six interceptions.

• Began his career as a video graduate assistant and student assistant at Clemson in 2013, helping Clemson’s staff during an 11-2 campaign punctuated by an Orange Bowl victory against Ohio State.

• Moved to an on-field graduate assistant role for Clemson from 2014-15 as the Tigers compiled a 24-4 record, including a 2015 campaign in which the Tigers went 14-1, won the ACC title, earned the program’s first College Football Playoff berth and appeared in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

• In his two seasons as an on-field graduate assistant, four different Clemson defensive backs earned All-ACC honors: Garry Peters, Mackensie Alexander, Cordrea Tankersley and Jayron Kearse.

• Was a productive four-year linebacker at Clemson from 2009-12 after signing with the Tigers as part of the “Dandy Dozen,” Dabo Swinney’s first recruiting class as head coach at Clemson in 2009.

• Tallied 200 career tackles (17.0 for loss), 5.0 sacks, 11 quarterback hurries, two pass breakups, and one fumble recovery over 52 games with 26 starts.

• Was ACC Academic Honor Roll member and twice finished as Clemson’s third-leading tackler, accounting for more than 150 stops between his sophomore and junior seasons.

• Completed two Bill Walsh Minority Internships, one with the New York Jets in 2014 and one with the Miami Dolphins in 2019.

• Earned his Clemson undergraduate degree in sociology with a minor in athletic leadership in 2012.

• Added his master’s degree from Clemson in human resource development in 2015.

• Cousin of former Clemson All-America linebacker Leroy Hill.

• Native of Milledgeville, Ga., where he exited Baldwin High School as ESPN’s 10th-ranked inside linebacker prospect in the recruiting class of 2009.
