South Carolina defeats Clemson 1-0 Lady Tigers to play at Maryland Thursday

COLUMBIA, SC–Annie Galloway scored the game winner early in the second half in leading South Carolina to a 1-0 win over Clemson in a women’s intercollegiate soccer match at Columbia, SC Friday night.

With the win, South Carolina improves to 5-3 overall, while Clemson falls to 4-3 on the year.

Galloway scored her second goal of the year at the 45:47 mark with assists by Monica Hogan and Samantha DiazMatosas.

“We played well in the first 20 minutes of the match and then we fell apart,” said Clemson Head Coach Todd Bramble. “It is very frustrating in the way we play so inconsistently. The inexperience is showing. We need our leaders to step up.”

Clemson will play at Maryland on Thursday, September 21, and at Boston College on Sunday, September 24.
