Sophomore Rowers Take Top Spot on Class Day

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s rowing team took to Lake Hartwell on Saturday morning to take part in the Class Day regatta. The Sophomores finished first with a time of 5:48.33 followed by the Seniors with a time of 5:52.80 and the Juniors with a 6:05.77 time.

“It was great to see everyone dress up and “present” their classes before the race,” said Clemson head coach Robbie Tenenbaum. “This is always a fun time, and this is a low key way to get everyone on our team some racing experience.”

The Senior class boat led early but was passed by the Sophomore class boat around the half way mark of the race. The Sophomore boat featured the lineup of Caroline Hackler, Stephannie Allen, Aurelia Wurzel, Katherine Peters, Elise McVey, MJ Keys, Samantha Duggan, Giulia Longatti and coxswain Danielle Hayden.

“The Fall 2012 Clemson Rowing Class day regatta was a time for the four classes to come together, have some fun, and try to get a few bragging rights as the top class in the boathouse,” said Tenebaum. “Everyone had a ton of fun, and we are especially thankful to all our alumni that came back to be a part of the event.”

This was the Tigers final time on the water for the fall season. They will start the regular season on March 9, 2013 on Lake Hartwell.
