Sarah Cooper Named CRCA Second-Team All-American

June 11, 2007

Clemson, SC – The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) released its list of Pocock All-America teams recently. Clemson senior Sarah Cooper was named second-team All-America, the second consecutive year she was honored by the coaches’ organization as an All-American. The decorated rower was a first-team All-American in 2006.

Cooper’s selection makes her just the second multi-year All-American in school history. Lucy Doolittle was first-team in 2001, then second-team during the 2002 season. Aimee Fox (2002) and Ashlee Brown (2005) are the only other All-Americans in the program’s history.

This season, the native of Westminster, SC stroked the varsity 8+ to a national ranking as high as #12 in the US Rowing/CRCA poll after defeating Michigan, Michigan State, and Notre Dame in March. She led the Tigers’ top boat to a third-place showing at the ACC Championships and a petite final finish at regionals last weekend. Under her leadership, the Tigers’ varsity 8+ twice earned ACC Crew of the Week honors in 2007. She was named All-ACC for the third time, most in school history.
