Clemson rower Ashlee Brown was announced as one of 58 student-athletes to receive an NCAA postgraduate scholarship on Tuesday. The honor is the latest in a long line of accolades this spring for the senior varsity 8+ rower.
Brown was named a CRCA National Scholar Athlete this season, after posting a cumulative 3.79 GPA in Animal and Veterinary Sciences. Brown was also a 2004 National Scholar Athlete. In addition, she was a second-team CRCA All-American and first-team All-South Region performer. She was a first-team All-ACC selection as well this spring.
The $7,500 scholarship was awarded to 29 men and 29 women who participated in spring sports. To qualify, a student-athlete must have an overall grade-point average of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent, and must have performed with distinction as a member of the varsity team in the sport in which the student-athlete was nominated. The student-athlete must have behaved, both on and off the field, in a manner that has brought credit to the student-athlete, the institution, and intercollegiate athletics. The student-athlete also must intend to continue academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full-time or part-time graduate student.
