Rowing to Hold “Team Up for Clemson” Regatta on Saturday

CLEMSON, SC The Clemson women’s rowing team will hold the second annual Team Up for Clemson Regatta on Saturday on Lake Hartwell starting at 9:00 AM. The Tigers will partner with amateur teams to raise money for local non-profit organizations in the event, hosted by the Joint City-University Advisory Board.

“This is a fantastic event for the Clemson Community and Clemson University,” said Clemson head coach Robbie Tenenbaum. “It gives our team a great connection with the local community and we help to raise funds for local charities at the same time. It is a lot of fun for everyone.”

Clemson rowers have been working to teach amateur teams from local churches, non-profits, business and university departments and organizations how to row so they can face off in a series of races. Each boat will feature six amateurs along with three athletes from the rowing team.

“As a coach, this event helps our team as well,” Tenenbaum said. “Our student-athletes become the coach of the community rowers and they really have to think about how to teach the sport that they all love so much.”

Proceeds from the regatta will benefit the women’s rowing team as well as Clemson Community Care, the Clemson Child Development Center, Littlejohn Community Center, the Arts Center, Clemson Area African-American Museum and the Clemson Free Clinic.

The event is open to the public with an entry fee of a $1 donation or one can of food per person to benefit Clemson Community Care. Concessions will be available for purchase at the event as well.
