Ninth-Ranked Clemson Women’s Soccer Travels To Old Dominion

Clemson, SC – The ninth-ranked Clemson women’s soccer team will travel to Norfolk, VA to play Old Dominion University on Friday night at 7:00. The Lady Tigers enter their first road game of the season with two consecutive shutouts and a 2-0 overall record. Old Dominion enters Friday’s contest against the Lady Tigers with a 1-1 overall mark. Clemson is 1-0 all-time against Old Dominion including last season’s 3-1 victory over the Lady Monarchs at Riggs Field on August 27.

This season, the Lady Tigers have defeated both Richmond and Gardner-Webb by scores of 4-0. Clemson has out shot their opponents 54-5 including a 32 shot total against Gardner-Webb in their last game. The 32 shots registered by the Lady Tigers in that game were tied for the fourth most in school history. Sophomores Heather Beem and Lindsay Browne each have six total points for the Lady Tigers this season while junior Deliah Arrington and freshman Paige Ledford are tied for second on the team with four points. Senior First-Team All-ACC goalkeeper Katie Carson has registered two shutouts on the season and now has 26 for her career. That mark is a school record for most shutouts in a career and is 14 better than the next highest total. With four saves against Old Dominion, Carson can tie the school record for most saves in a career with 228.

Old Dominion lost to UNC Greensboro 1-0 in their season opener but rebounded to defeat Radford 3-2 in overtime last Sunday. The Lady Monarchs are coached by Joe Pereira who has posted a 59-53-5 record in six years at the school.
