Lady Tiger Soccer Team to Travel to Coral Gables, FL to Face Miami Saturday

Clemson, SC – The Clemson women’s soccer team will travel to Coral Gables, FL on Saturday to face the University of Miami. The 24th-ranked Lady Tigers will meet the 25th-ranked Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. at Cobb Stadium.

Clemson has an 8-3-4 overall record and a 1-2-4 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play entering Saturday’s game. Last week, the Lady Tigers tied N.C. State 2-2 in double overtime in Raleigh, NC and suffered a 2-1 double-overtime loss to #21 Wake Forest at Riggs Field.

The Lady Tigers have advanced to double overtime in six of their last seven games, and have a 1-1-4 record in those contests. The double-overtime loss to Wake Forest last week broke a streak of 12 consecutive overtime games without a loss. Clemson had not lost an overtime game since a 1-0 loss suffered against Miami at Riggs Field on October 12, 2005.

Clemson is led in scoring by freshman forward Samantha Fortier, with five goals and three assists for 13 points. Red-shirt senior Courtney Foster and sophomore Molly Franklin are tied for second in scoring with 12 points apiece. Senior Nuria Zufia has five goals for the Lady Tigers.

Senior goalkeeper Ashley Phillips has recorded 56 saves and allowed just 10 goals in 14 games and over 1251 minutes of play. She has a save percentage of .848 and a goals-against average of 0.72 for the season.

Miami is 9-4-3 overall and has a 4-2-1 record in the ACC, most recently falling to #12 Florida State by a score of 4-1 in Tallahassee. Miami is ranked in a tie for 25th according to the most recent Soccer America poll. The Hurricanes are led by freshman Brittney Steinbruch who has 16 goals and three assists on the season for 35 points. Goalkeeper Lauren McAdam has 63 saves and has allowed 19 goals in nearly 1317 minutes in goal.

Clemson is 2-1-0 all-time against Miami in the series that began in 2004. The Lady Tigers have a 1-1 record against the Hurricanes at Riggs Field and are 1-0 in games played at Cobb Stadium. In 2006, Clemson won a 2-1 decision at home on October 11. Katie Vogel and Julie Bolt scored first-half goals in the Lady Tiger victory.
