May 24, 2009

Clemson, SC – The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) has released its list of All-Region teams, and four Tigers have landed spots on the All-South team. The awards recognize the outstanding performances of rowers from each of the five Division One regions, organized into first and second-team selections. Brittany Cummings were named to the first-team, while Hilary Cumbest and Stefanie Kozuszek were second-team selections.

Leidecker, a senior, and Cummings, a junior, were each named first-team All-South Region. The duo were also named to the All-ACC team this season. This marks the second consecutive season that Leidecker has earned All-Region honors, in addition to be named an All-American last season. By virtue of their All-Region selection, they are both eligible to receive All-American recognition.

In addition to the first-team honorees, the Tigers also had two second-team selections. Hilary Cumbest and Stefanie Kozuszek were each honored for their outstanding performances with the Varsity 8+ this season. Cumbest, a senior, was also named to the All-ACC team this season. This marks the first individual honor for Kozuszek, who transferred to Clemson prior to the season.

All of the honorees spent the spring season rowing with the Varsity 8+. The crew had a very successful season, most notably earning a bid to compete in the NCAA Rowing Championships for the just the second time in school history. The crew was ranked high as #10 in the nation during the season, which marks the highest ranking in program history.

The Tigers will return to action at the NCAA regatta held May 29-31 on the Cooper River in Camden, NJ.
