GREENSBORO, NC – Clemson’s First Varsity Eight crew which posted its best time of the year in downing Kansas last Saturday in a dual meet on Lake Hartwell was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Crew of the Week Wednesday by the ACC.
The 1V8+ crew, consisting of Coxswain Laura D’Urso (Dunross, Culdaff, Ireland), Giulia Longatti (Como, Italy), Becca Brown (Greeville, S.C.), Ameerah Aly (Longwood, Fla.), Heather Cummings (Virginia Beach, Va.), Kate Biladeau (Lutz, Fla.), Laura Basadonna (Torino, Italy) and Samantha Duggan (Christchurch, New Zealand), downed the Jayhawks by 26 seconds, posting a time of 6:26.08, which was 10 seconds faster than their previous fastest time this year.
The win by the Tigers First Varsity Eight Boat was one of four for Clemson against Kansas, as the Tigers, led by 2nd-year head coach Robbie Tenenbaum, swept the dual meet. Clemson is ranked 16th nationally in the pre-season CRCA National poll. That is the Tigers’ 40th consecutive national ranking in the poll.
