Clemson Wraps Up At Cardinal Invite

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – A second-place finish by the Clemson 3V8 highlighted the Tiger action during the Sunday session at the Cardinal Invite. The Tigers competed in four total events in the final session.

“This weekend we got to race some of the top teams in the country,” head coach Stephen Frazier Wong said. “We were found wanting, but we now have a good sense of the parts of our race plan that need more attention. We have a day off tomorrow to recharge and with spring break training starting on Tuesday, we will have the time to focus on making those essential changes, as well as to try out some different lineup combinations. We’re excited to work to find more speed in the next two weeks before we head to Columbus to face Ohio State and Michigan.”

In the 3V8, Sarah Adams’ boat’s time of 6:47.930 put them seven seconds ahead of the third-place Michigan State 2N8 that was competing in the race, completing the Tigers’ best performance of the weekend. In the 1V4, Katie Herbolsheimer led her boat to a third-place time of 7:02.630, just edging the fourth-place Tulsa. Both the 1V8 and 2V8 finished in fourth with times of 6:22.907 and 6:22.178, respectively.

The rowing team will be back in action on Mar. 31 at the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in Columbus, Ohio.
