CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson rowing program and Lake Hartwell are set to host the 2018 ACC Rowing Championship for the ninth straight year on Sunday. The Tigers will compete against eight schools in five 2,000-meter sprints, with preliminary heats scheduled for the morning and finals for the afternoon. The 19th iteration of the ACC Championship will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra, with live coverage beginning at 8 a.m. for prelims and 5:30 p.m. for finals.
Three conference schools are ranked in the top 20 of the USRowing/CRCA Coaches Poll heading into the weekend, with Virginia being the highest at No. 7, followed by Notre Dame at No. 17 and Duke at No. 18. The Cavaliers have won 17 of 18 ACC titles.
Lane assignments for the finals will be determined by the finishing order from the qualifying heats, set for 8:05 a.m. Sunday. The grand finals of each event will feature the top three finishers from each heat, and will culminate with the First Varsity 8+ showdown at 7:25 p.m. An awards ceremony honoring the team champion and All-ACC individuals will follow shortly after.
