Clemson Rowing’s Lueck Named South Region Coach of the Year

May 24, 2001

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson rowing head coach Susie Lueck was named the South Region Coach of the Year as announced by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association. Earlier this month she was named ACC Coach of the Year.

The criteria for determining a regional coach of the year are three-fold. The coach must have had outstanding success during the current season, he/she must have demonstrated great team improvement from the prior season, and he/she must demonstrate a high level of professionalism and integrity as a coach. The national coach of the year will be selected upon completion of the NCAA Championships, which will be held May 24-26 at Lake Lanier in Gainesville, GA. Lueck is one of five finalists for that honor.

This season, the Clemson rowing team claimed the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship and finished second at the Atlantic Coast Conference Rowing Championship. The Tigers also had an impressive row at the San Diego Crew Classic, finishing fifth in the Jessop-Whittier Cup.

Clemson was ranked second in the South Region all season and was ranked in the top 20 USRowing/CRCA poll with a season-best standing of 15. The final poll will be released after the NCAA regatta.

Clemson had two rowers named to the All-ACC team (Lucy Doolittle and Aimee Fox), and placed four rowers (Lucy Doolittle, Aimee Fox, Gail Cadorniga and Lauren Henne) on the All-South Region team.
