Clemson Rowing Travels to California for Pac-10 Challenge

Clemson, SC – The Clemson rowing team will travel to Redwood Shores, CA this weekend to compete in the Pac-10 Challenge. The event, hosted by Stanford, will feature more than 114 crew races between the nation’s top universities as well as more than 400 club and high school rowers. Women’s squads scheduled to take part in the event include No. 4 Stanford, No. 5 California, No. 6 Virginia, No. 12 Ohio State, No. 13 Clemson, Saint Mary’s, Santa Clara, and UCLA.

Athletes will compete in two days of Henley-style racing, a one-on-one or a two-boat race used for competition at the famous Henley Royal Regatta in Henley-on-Thames, England.

Clemson will have four crews competing in the regatta, including the Varsity 8+ and Second Varsity 8+, Varsity 4+, and the Novice 8+. All four crews will face Stanford on Saturday morning and UCLA on Sunday morning.

The Varsity 8+, named the Crew of the Week by the ACC this week, is ranked 13th in the latest USRowing/CRCA poll. They will have an opportunity to move up in the rankings when they face #4 Stanford on Saturday morning.
