The Clemson rowing team will host their third home regatta of the spring season Saturday, beginning at 9 AM. The Tigers are coming off their second straight sweep after hosting Northeastern last weekend. Six schools will be in Clemson to participate in races Saturday morning on Lake Hartwell.
“We always love having a lot of teams training here during March, and we are excited about having some great competition on Lake Hartwell this weekend,” said Clemson Head Coach Robbie Tenenbaum. “Our team had a great race this past weekend, and we have made a few changes to our boats and hope to find even more speed in all our crews this weekend. We are racing boats from Syracuse, Indiana, Iowa, Boston University, Purdue and Marist. This weekend we will have some exciting seven lane races, and this is always an event that we look forward to. Having so many quality teams here in Clemson this early in the season really helps all of us prepare for a tough spring racing season.”
The first race of the morning will be the 1st Varsity 8 at 9:00 AM and will feature one entry each from all seven crews. The next race will be the 2nd Varsity 8, beginning at 9:20 AM. This race will be another exciting seven boat race, with one boat from every school except Marist and two boats from Purdue. The 1st Varsity 4 race will begin at 9:40 AM and feature one boat from each school except Purdue and Marist.
In the second hour of racing, the 1st Novice 8 will begin at 10:00 AM and will be another exciting seven boat race. The 2nd Novice 8 will begin at 10:20 AM and the 2nd Varsity 4 will round out the day, beginning at 10:40 AM.
