CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson rowing team will host the 13th ACC Rowing Championship Saturday morning, April 21, 2012, beginning with a 2nd Varsity 4 exhibition race at 8:30 AM. The Tigers are looking to capture the second ACC title in school history. Clemson is the only school, other than Virginia, to win an ACC title in rowing.
The Tigers are seeded second, behind Virginia, in every race Saturday morning, with the exception of the first Varsity 8. Clemson and Duke were tied entering the event, and the Tigers are seeded third as the result of a tiebreaker.
The 2nd Varsity 4 race will start off the event at 8:30 AM with an exhibition race, followed by the 1st Varsity 4 at 9:00 AM, the Novice 8 at 9:20 AM, the 2nd Varsity 8 at 9:40 AM, and finally the 1st Varsity 8 at 10:00 AM. The awards ceremony will take place at 10:30 AM, where the recipients of All-ACC accolades, ACC Crew and Player-of-the-Year awards, and the ACC Championship trophy will be awarded.
The Tigers are coming off a strong performance at the UVA Invitational last weekend, and look to be Virginia’s biggest competition this weekend.
The event will be streamed live on theACC.com and fans can also follow the event on twitter at #ACCRow.
