Clemson Rowing Team Cleans Up Lake Hartwell

Sept. 10, 2001

Clemson, S.C. – The Clemson rowing team participated in Clean-Up Lake Hartwell on Saturday, September 8, as part of its community service efforts. Fifty-five members of the rowing team participated in the community service project. The clean-up consisted of picking up garbage along the shores, as well as beautifying the area by weeding the East Beach.

The Tigers’ boathouse is located on beautiful Lake Hartwell, which borders part of the Clemson campus. Lake Hartwell has been home to the Clemson rowing team for the past three seasons. With 56,000 acres of water and 962 miles of shoreline, Lake Hartwell offers plenty of rowable water. The lake facilitates an ideal setting for the Tigers’ fully buoyed, six-lane 2,000m race course. It is an outstanding regatta venue, with the entire course visible from the boathouse area.

Clemson rowing begins their fall season September 29 at the Carolina Classic in Durham, North Carolina. The first opportunity for Tiger supporters to see this year’s team in action at home will be at the Head of Lake Hartwell on Saturday, October 28.
