CLEMSON, S.C. – The members of Clemson’s inaugural team were announced by head coach Susie Lueck at a press conference Thursday evening in Jervey Gym. This year’s rowing team is comprised of 46 athletes from 15 states. Twenty athletes from South Carolina have been named to the team. The Clemson rowing program will be operating without scholarships this season.
The Clemson oars were also unveiled at the press conference. The white oars contain an orange “Tiger Paw” logo on the blade.
“On behalf of the coaching staff and team, we look forward to starting the Tigers’ inaugural program and developing the Clemson Tigers into a national rowing powerhouse,” said Lueck at the press conference.
Clemson’s boats are scheduled to arrive later in October. Pocock, a Seattle-based company, has been working on the production of the boats since June. Pending the arrival of the boats and the completion of the boathouse, the Tigers’ first regatta is scheduled for October 31. Clemson will compete in the “Head of the Tennessee” competition in Knoxville to begin the nontraditional season.
The complete schedule and roster follow.
