Clemson Rowing Competes at Head of the Hooch Regatta

The Clemson rowing team competed at the Head of the Hooch regatta held Saturday on the Chattahoochee River. The Tigers competed in seven races.

In the Women’s Novice 8+, the Tigers finished first and sixth. Clemson won the race with a time of 20:30.1. The second Tiger boat posted a time of 23:05.3 after a 60 second penalty for a buoy violation. Tigers racing in the Women’s Club Novice 8+ Clemson finished 11th with a time of 23:09.6.

In the Championship 8+ final, Clemson finished fifth and 10th. The Tigers’ “A” boat recorded a time of 18:26.7 to take fifth. Clemson “B” posted a time of 19:17.2 finishing 10th. The Tigers third varsity 8+ raced in the Club 8+, finishing 11th in 20:55.9.

Clemson’s “A”, “B”, and “C” boats finished fourth, seventh, and 11th respectively in the Championship 4+ race. The Tigers’ “A” boat posted at time of 20:49.4. Clemson rowing “B” finished in 21:16 and the Tigers’ “C” boat recorded a time of 21:31.4. The Tigers’ fourth varsity 4+ finished third in the Women’s Club 4+ and the novice 4+ finished second in their race.

“It was a beautiful day with sun and great racing. The parents and fans were very supportive,” said head coach Susie Lueck. “It was an outstanding showing for the novice’s first race. This is a sign that great things are in store for the Tigers in the future.”

The Tigers will conclude the fall season on November 10 when they travel to Charlottesville, VA to compete in the Rivanna Romp.
