Clemson Rowers Receive All-Region and National Scholar Athletes Honors

CLEMSON, SC – Two Tigers have been named to the CRCA All-Region rowing team joining nine past Clemson rowers to earn this honor. Senior Mary Nell Green received Second-team All-Region honors.

Kuivila and Green are also among the five rowers to be named 2003 National Scholar Athletes. Joining their teammates are Kate Niebauer, Elizabeth Noll and Diana Ulrey. This is the first time the Tigers have had five rowers receive this honor in a single y ear.

This is the second time for Kuivila to receive each of these honors. She is a 2002 CRCA All-Region honoree as well as a 2002 National Scholar Athlete. In addition Kuivila was named to the 2003 All-ACC rowing team. She coxed the South Region Champion Second Varsity 8+ in 2001 and has been named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll for the 1999-2002 seasons. Kuivila is from Dublin, OH.

Green, a sophomore from Gastonia, NC, received the 2003 CRCA All-Region and National Scholar Athlete honors for the first time this year. She stroked the Varsity 8+ all season and was named to the ACC Academic Honor roll for the 2001-02 season.

Senior from Naples, FL, Kate Niebauer was recently named a NSCA Strength and Conditioning All-American. She also joins Kuivila on the 2003 All-ACC team. Niebauer was also a member of the 2001 South Region Champion Second Varsity 8+ and an ACC Academic Honor Roll member for the 1999-2002 seasons.

Junior Elizabeth Noll from Birmingham, AL rowed in the First Varsity 8+ this season. She was also named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll for the 2001-02 season.

Diana Ulrey a sophomore from Tulsa, OK, rowed in the First Varsity 8+ as well. She is a member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll for the 2001-02 season.
