Clemson Ready for Head of the Charles

CLEMSON, S.C. — The Clemson rowing program is headed to Boston, Mass., to compete in the prestigious Head of the Charles. The Tigers will field boats in the Club 4+ on Saturday, Oct. 22 and Championship 8+ on Sunday, Oct. 23. The 3.2-mile racing action will take place on the Charles River in Cambridge.

“I am eagerly anticipating this trip,” said Stephen Frazier Wong, head coach of the Tigers. “The Head of the Charles always feels like the official beginning of the season since we get to see and compete against so many top teams all in one place.

“We’ve been putting more miles in pairs this fall, and I have been very pleased with the development and competitiveness of the squad to this point. It’s going to be fun to see the team going fast in big boats this weekend.”

The First Varsity 4+ is one of 59 entries for Saturday’s race that is set to begin at 1:10 p.m. The Tigers will send Kasi Sweisford (coxswain), Rebecca Pulsifer, Claire Prevost, Amber Rewis and Amelia Shein to the water.

The First Varsity 8+ is set to compete Sunday at approximately 2:36 p.m. against a field that includes 33 entries. The Tiger lineup is projected to be Emily Goff (coxswain), Megan Mars, Lydia Hanewich, Cassidy Davidson, Taryn Carroll, Kaela Wilbur, Ashley Robinson, Julia Meredith and Anna McLean.
