Clemson Prepares for Final Night at ACC Championships

Feb. 23, 2008

The Tigers had several powerful showings in the preliminaries, moving them into prime point-scoring opportunities to finish strong at the 2008 Women’s ACC Swimming and Diving Championships.

Michelle Parkhurst continued her outstanding performance in the 200 back and will be seeded second in the finals after putting in an NCAA-B 1:58.74. She will be looking for her fourth ACC title, winning the 100 back, 200 free, and 200 free relay.

Rachel Regone will compete for the 100 free championship as she put in a 50.28. Junior Lauren Sindall also picked up an NCAA-B 50.90, and is in the consolation finals. Her time moves her into eighth on Clemson’s all-time list.

Freshman Elizabeth Savage and sophomore Katrina Obas worked their way into the finals of the 200 breast, notching NCAA-B 2:17.61 and 2:17.72, respectively. Savage moved into fourth on Clemson’s all-time list with the swim after entering Clemson’s top ten in the 400 IM and 100 breast earlier in the championships.

Meggie Mizelle will represent the Tigers in the 200 fly after swimming a 2:03.70 in the morning.

In addition to the finals, the Tigers will finish competition diving with the platform events. Also, the 1650 free will be held this afternoon.
