GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson junior midfielder Riley Sumpter was named Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week after helping his unranked Tigers to a unbeaten record last week, including a 2-1 overtime upset of 18th-ranked Duke.
Sumpter, a junior from Avondale Estates, Georgia, assisted on the tying goal against Georgia Southern on Oct. 19 in the 87th minute. Three days later, he tallied the game-winner in the 97th minute in the first overtime period to lead Clemson to a 2-1 upset win over Duke.
Currently Sumpter leads the Tigers in goals scored this season with four, while his goal against the Blue Devils marked his second game-winner this season.
